Welcome to 5B's Battery Recycling Project!

The 5B Battery Disposal site will be the source for information on the proper disposal of batteries.

Batteries are a convenient way of providing power for everyday appliances, such as flashlights, cameras, and mobile phones. This is true, but as responsible citizens we need to be aware of the positives and the negatives.

We want to SPREAD THE WORD about the harmful effects of batteries and to educate others about how they too can help make a difference.

Look out; 5B is on a mission to help give back to the earth 1 battery at a time :)

Read on to find out how you can
make a difference!

Did you know?

Did you know that there is a proper way to dispose of batteries?

Don't feel bad if this is news to you, 5B is here to help! Many people think that it is ok to throw batteries in the garbage when they don't work anymore. Throwing batteries in the garbage is actually very harmful to the
environment and to us!

Batteries Contain Harmful Chemicals

All batteries have hazardous chemicals such as acid and heavy metals in them. Over time, these chemicals are released into the environment. Some batteries are more dangerous than others. Chemicals such as Mercury, and Lead Acid are extremely dangerous. Less harmful chemicals found in batteries are Carbon Zinc, and Lithium.
